    Car first service checklist!

    10,000 – 15,000 miles

When should you get your first service on a new car? The first service for a brand-new car is usually scheduled for 12 months or up to a specific mileage (it varies from 10,000 – 15,000 miles) – whichever comes first.

This does differ between manufacturers but should be detailed in your vehicle handbook.

How often should you service your car?
Most manufacturers recommend having a full car service once a year or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.

  • Car first service after 1,000 km
  • But this depends on your car and how you drive it. You can check your logbook to see when your car was last serviced – and it should be updated by the mechanic after completion of a service.

How long does it take to get a new car serviced?
Twelve months is also often the amount of time a car is covered for after the previous MOT.

Then again, this really depends on how much use you’re getting out of your motor. In terms of distance travelled, it’s recommended that you get a new car serviced after it has done somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 miles (let’s say 12,000)
